Furinkan notes that: "The doll that appears at Sankai High School after escaping from Ageha's box is a "wara ningyo" (藁人形). These are used for cursing individuals much like a voodoo doll in the west. The nail it holds is commonly used for driving the doll into a tree. Frequently these dolls have a strand of hair stuffed inside. The strand of hair belongs to the pursing they are being used to curse."
