As Aila nodded, you asked her why that'd be such a strange thing.

"Well, other than him being super influential with the Mage's Guild and the Academy, he keeps himself to a small circle of people. But that's expected, since he's a smart, serious, and grumpy wizard. Those types of wizards usually don't like being bothered. But it's still well known that only reason he hasn't retired is because he's doesn't trust the new guys in charge of both the Academy and the Guild."

"Huh." You absorbed the information.

"Wot's he think of the Adventurer's Guild?" Cattleya asked.

"I would also like to know if he is in good terms with the Order of the Jagged Sword." Gerty said soon after your Cat.

"I'm not sure." The elf girl said. "You'd have to ask him yourself. Sorry."

Eventually you get to the laboratory— or rather, the front of it. You see Todred speaking with some of the students here as he carried a suitcase. Upon noticing you he finishes speaking with them and approaches you.

"John Doe," He said "I was told that you wished to meet me."

"That's correct." You confirmed.

He invited you all into the laboratory. It was less impressive than you expected, though this might be because it was made for smaller groups and classes. It still had a few chemistry and alchemy sets on display, though both seemed to have gathered dust.

Aila, after getting some papers and potions, respectfully greeted Todred. The old half-elf, in turn, barely acknowledged her. She took her leave— needing to go back to the library for some books— and waved goodbye to you, almost tripping on the stairs on her way out.

"Now then." Said Todred. "What was this about finding an Academy wand?"

You present to him the item in question and, with the help of your wives, you end up explaining how, by using Appraisal, you were able to find that the wand was set to explode after a certain number of spells were cast. Todred was able to confirm your words by his own magical power just by looking it over.

"Used to destroy the user." Todred mumbled. "Troubling. Very troubling. The faculty must be warned."

With that in mind, you decided to...

>Share everything you knew about the wand to him, from the Drag On Gang's account to the likely connection this wand had to Rostchilde. It would make finding things easier.
>Only tell him the crucial details about what you were absolutely sure of. There were too many moving parts to this, and you imagined things would get messy if you told him everything.
>Let him come to his own conclusions. From what you've heard he's supposed to be one of the best wizards in the Academy, so you weren't too worried about it.
>(Write-in)

"I believe-" Todred coughed out. "That there must be some specific design behind the artifact itself— so hidden was the trace. I doubt this was an accident."

"If you'll pardon us," Ruby said, "I can speak for us all when I say we'd like to know for how long you'll need to look the over that stick."
