Maybe it does not matter to YOU, but I want to be immersed when I am reading fiction story. I don't want realism, but immersion is a requirement. I want to read about characters exploring, eating, sleeping, fighting and, if appropriate in their situation, fucking. What I don't want to read is characters breaking immersions by running away from any of the above activities with no good reason. I'm sure you can think of one or two moments where humblefag MC was insufferable and instead of clocking the asshole that wronged him, either de-escalated or even apologized instead. It's the same with romance and sex.
