From my understanding it’s at least the past (Old Peace) but whether alternate or not is up for guesses.
The sentinel cephalon complained that the Sentients attacked first. Operator mused that they were in war. Two possibilities therefore:

>2. There WAS a time of peace before the Old War but what we refer as the Old War is one of multiple wars. The Sentients might have started 2 of them. The first one ends with a peace treaty but in doing so the Orokin get to power. The Separatists believe we have been or are being manipulated. After this period of Old Peace, the True Old War begins. The Sentients attack with full power and intent to kill, no amnesty, no negotations, no surrender and no trust anymore.
