I think another disconnect is that most white American males don't really take pride in their hair while black Americans do. In black culture, a good barber is practically an artist. Even something as basic as a simple edge-up does take some practice and can really bring out someone's appearance.
It's like, there's no excuse for their hair to look like shit when most of them take care of their hair.
