NEET here. I have always been a cheapskate, because I grew up in a very poor household with a single mother who would always tell me "that's for rich people" anout the most basic things, and my family always belittled me, which gave me self esteem issues. I currently live with my half sister to save money. I refused to get air conditioning until recently (to save money), but she insisted since she's keeping her cat in my room and the cat gets hot. I eat only the cheapest possible food to save food stamps. In fact I have >$600 in food stamps right now. I was actually eating a peanut butter sandwich for dinner when I mentioned to my sister that I want to buy a $100 unlocked phone (with my own money I have saved) because the phone I've had for 5 years has a swollen battery. She then proceeded to belittle me for spending too much money when I'm so poor, and said I should get a $50 phone with a contract. When I tried to explain that I will have this phone for a long time, she talked over me, and even after she left the room, she shouted at me down the hall for talking to our roommate about it. I don't have any other source of entertainment, and this phone is falling apart. The phone I want has 150% more RAM than my current phone. Am I being unreasonable?
