Irminsul is not *just* a simple database. It is the single entity, or rather information processing system, that manages all communication between the operating system and the component (Teyvat).
Now, each nation does seem to have their own localized tree, so destroying the main tree will probably not cause mass memory loss, but it will cut off Celestia from Teyvat, quite literally uprooting it from the world, so to speak. It's all about Celestia losing control.
