They're fairly simple turn-based JRPGs with freestyle movement in a field based on character's move radius. I suggest you start with either the original Hyperdimension Neptunia on PS3, or Re;Birth 3 on other platforms. Re;Birth 1 is typically recommended as a starting point, but it's a remake/alt timeline of the first game that also makes questionable deviations with the character writing and worldbuilding. It also has no relevance to the rest of the series. Re;Birth 3 sets you up with the main four and develops them as opposed to Re;Birth 2 which focuses on a different group that most agree isn't as good as the main four. After that, you either play the rest of the Re;Births or go to Megadimension VII.
