I checked the Genshin NGA forum—it’s been quiet this afternoon, hardly anyone discussing the plot or asking for character guides. Pretty dead.

Traveler siblings are aliens who landed in Teyvat. The brother’s always half-asleep, while the sister became Kanreia’s princess. Five people in Kanreia used the sister to gain Abyss power, ascended, and bailed. Then Celestia rallied the Seven Archons to attack Kanreia.

The brother woke up, the sister hesitated but decided to flee with him. In Genshin’s opening cutscene, Celestia shot them down, and Kanreia fell.

Later, the sister felt guilty and aimed to restore Kanreia, while the brother wandered as a vagrant until meeting Paimon. So, the sister fled but isn’t exactly a deserter.

The issue is those five “sinners” who ascended became star-destroying powerhouses, flexing across the cosmos. This patch’s character, Skirk’s master, dubbed the “Cosmic Calamity,” can solo a star system. There’s also a new organization wiping out Abyss-powered planets universe-wide, which destroyed Skirk’s homeworld. Skirk, awakened with Abyss limbs, is Genshin’s first confirmed alien limited character. The game’s power scale jumped from village brawls to Star Wars.

This makes Dainsleif’s talk of “human potential” sound more and more like a joke.
