With the amount of time it would take to traverse any portion of space coupled with the increasing speed of expansion within our observable universe it becomes impossible for us to ever encounter other alien life without using FTL travel which simply is not physically possible for us or any object composed of known matter. No point considering what's out there because we will never encounter it before we destroy ourselves.
