Russian soldiers previously exchanged in a prisoner swap have once again been captured by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Saktaagai Shagaa from Tuva, a contract soldier, "fought" for just a month. He was wounded during a brutal assault on Vovchansk and surrendered in January. On June 20, he returned to Russia as a wounded POW — but received no treatment. Instead, after two weeks of interrogations, he was sent back to the Vovchansk front.

Dmytro Ivanov, also a contract soldier, was wounded in the legs and arms and captured near Vovchansk in 2024. After being exchanged earlier this year, he was once again deployed — and captured — near Vovchansk.
