The problem is that it's not convincing and when you see Ellen Page trying to play a tough guy or Hunter Schafer playing a beautiful woman, you can't help but realize how ridiculous the very concept of switching your gender actually is.
I guess in Nolan's new Odyssey movie there's a scene where Ellen Page and Jon Berenthal are going to be standing right next to each other and possibly even fight. If you don't think people are going to involuntarily burst out laughing in that theater when the suspension of disbelief is entirely ruined then I have some fabulous new invisible clothes I'd like to sell you.
