Yes he is. He knows how to avoid the shitcos and how to put a number on projects and mines, and he knows what teams or peopoe to follow. He's not a selfless angel though and he openly admits he is a "used money salesman" so he does talk his book and obviously he buys low and also sells high so somebody will end up buying his bags if the stock price goes up. Whenever Rick speaks you can safely assume he speaks in good faith and doesn't make bold-faced lies: if he says he likes a company or project he means it but might not be long if the price isn't low enough, he usually states his positioning candidly.

He is often interviewed and he is usually right about his predictions. Not always, for example he keeps expecting natural gas prices to improve in North America but the supply is so massive and easy to bring to market especially in Canada that the gas benchmarks are not likely to go up imo. But he is usually right or at least on the right track and is worth hearing even though he sounds like a broken record. He has a free website with hours of educational content about resource investing and he tries to build an open community for resource investors on that site (while also shilling his bank and investing conferences — again, not a selfless angel but he isn't malicious either since he truly believes his products offer value to people)

As far as people in the resource sector go, Rick is one of the good guys. Most importantly he isn't a retard. I have learned a lot of things just by listening to the man. Don't follow him blindly though
