That's not always true. Sometimes the data STILL doesn't fit the paradigm, so they say (as with dark matter), "Well, it WOULD fit the paradigm if 85% of the substance we need to make the math work was just completely unobservable and we've never found any way to interact with it."
The math ALWAYS works out when you can add "X" to the equation and say, "We'll figure out what X is, or if it even exists, later."
