They're supposed to amplify characters powers and whatnot, but don't actually appear in gameplay because it's really just an excuse for the weapon gacha. I can't speak for the other anon, but I wasn't really thinking of expanding them beyond the universe they exist in, I'm not sure it would work that well if you haven't played it. For what it's worth, there isn't anything in lore saying you *couldn't* also use your ball as a fuckhole too during long expeditions into hollows, so...
