I'm sure that Nordic ancient history would be held in higher regard today if we just had more of it that survived.

FACT: Wood was the preferred material and it just doesn't survive like stone and metal does.
FACT: Early Christians smashed, burned, and purged a lot of pre-Christian things, when they have to repairs or renovate old Swedish churches they have to bring in archaeology crews because it an almost certainty that they will find smashed runestones and other pagan artifacts that the early Christians used as building material for the walls and floors of their churches.
FACT: When the Swedish royal castle along with its library burned down in 1697 most of Sweden's pre-Christian history was destroyed.
