Like others are saying, RWBY is insanely valuable. Imagine the clusterfuck of making RoosterTeeth run, though, in its twilight years. The sellout was what killed RoosterTeeth because before that Burnie and Matt could have course correct and just said "Sorry guys but we're firing a lot of people except Achievement Hunter because they make Youtube Money," and started over. However RoosterTeeth crashing and burning was always going to happen because the sellout just ripped off the covering of how toxic and catty the workplace environment was.
How you handle a guy like Shane, a neurotic stressed guy that wasn't showing up enough/doing enough work, is you give him reduced pay and say "take a sabbatical but we want you to be here in 6 months ready to work." They would ask him about his fucking tweets the day after (like that would make him a better worker bee) to pick his brain. RT was very Californian towards the end and that would be a fucking nightmare. They pushed him out because he was Monty's right hand man and if he stayed he would be able to tweet/reddit post to the fans "Oh this is what Monty was imagining," or "I worked hard on this in a Monty-esque way so you can get this visual only I can produce." In fact, now that I think about it and what I read from someone else, this is heavily in line with how RT just refused to hire any executive animators or writers that COULD pick up what they had. They specifically had supbar animation and writing for 5 fucking years and then some.
