Battalion Wars is a western game with a western artstyle, despite being published by Nintendo. It’s parent series Advance Wars fits better for “anime war strategy game”, but it focuses more on nondescript squads of units rather than solo characters with unique personalities. On that front, VC shares more similarities with Fire Emblem, except obviously that series is medieval fantasy rather than not-WWII.
