There's lots of historical reasons for the Iranians to be suspicious of the Russians Wasn't the shah regime imposed on them by the British and Russians after they invaded Iran during WW2? and a long history of other British/Russian games with Iran running back to the "great game" of the 19th century.
The Russians on their part don't want to be burnt like they were in Afghanistan, and to a lesser extent Syria, in propping up a regime in a Islamic country that may be weak.
The Iranians have passed the test of being able to withstand the internal and external attempt to usurp them. Now is the time to build them up.
But there is a bit of a worry with the approaches given. The Americans do not hesitate in using proxies against Russia. But at the start of the attacks on Iran Russia's first instinct was to act as mediator, which was amusingly slapped down by Trump. It's weak and cringe

It's the Iranians who are cucking out. They should have developed nuclear missiles years ago but chose not to because of some fatwah pronounced by the previous ayotollah.
The Iranians have failed to strike critical infrastructure in Israel, microchip fabrication plants, desalination plants, etc. Failed to close the straits of Hormuz.
They will not lift a finger against the US and their bases in the region. They're just clinging to survival hoping the US and pissrael run out of bombs.
It's over for Iran.
Like Syria they failed to prepare and are unwilling to fight for themselves.
Russia is engaged in a existential battle in Ukraine. They don't have the resources or inclination to fight for those unwilling to fight for themselves. They learned that lesson in Afghanistan.
