President of Turkey Erdoğan stated that President of Azerbaijan Aliyev does not seek further escalation of tensions between Baku and Moscow.
"Russia and Azerbaijan possess the wisdom necessary to overcome this crisis," Erdoğan noted, adding that Turkey supports "constructive steps aimed at de-escalation."
So far, there has been no reaction from Putin.
Russia's goal is to increase military and political pressure on the countries of the South Caucasus.
It must be stated that over the past two weeks, since the escalation in Russia–Azerbaijan relations, a major geopolitical shift has taken place in the South Caucasus. Moscow has felt that it is losing its influence in the region.
Aliyev and Azerbaijan have received support not only from Erdoğan. The leader of nuclear-armed Pakistan — one of China's key partners — also visited him. In addition, on July 4, Azerbaijan was invited to the SCO summit, signaling Chinese influence.
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan have formed a company to create a green energy corridor to Europe. Azerbaijan plans to lay a cable along the bottom of the Black Sea to connect Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe, and the Caspian and Black Seas into a single energy corridor.
