Perhaps since I picture these hyper advanced humans using organic technology, they are the source of what I've been calling "mutomorphs" which are out of control organic growths that are mindless. Perhaps through some time fuckery, the advanced humans ended up accidentally seeding their biotech on distant planets, and without directive or purpose it grew into what we see today.
