The method they've adopted means they could potentially create a dirty bomb within weeks. It's not going to stop ongoing strikes but it will stop it happening again.
This is why israel is lashing out the way it is. They've utterly fucked US diplomatic reputation with it. Means that any chance of a ceasefire in ukraine is also gone, not like putin was dumb enough to believe western governments after the minsk stuff though.
