I'm fine with the comedy tone of the series, I just feel like the moment the characters truly shine is when presented in a more "serious" context. But hey, I'm not an expert in anything Haruhi so that's just my >opinion, and you guys seem to know more about it than I do, maybe I'm just being filtered. I never got into the novels because my english was garbage back then and also didn't know how to torrent, but ever since reading that fanfic I sort of got the itch for more text-based Haruhi content, so I'll give the novels a try one of these days. By the way, you probably already know which fic I'm talking about, but if not, it's called "The Coin". I can't even remember how I found it, probably in another Haruhi thread, things truly do come full circle.
