They like to control both sides. They prefer to control both sides through the use of controlled opposition—what could be called an "Esau gambit." Like in The Matrix, they allow dissent, and in some cases, they even lead it themselves. This counterintuitive tactic exposes parts of their own agenda, but by shaping the opposition narrative, they retain control over dissenting voices.
