You just need a pulse to get an English job in Nipland, but mid-30s is pushing it unless you're willing to work for some black companies. From there, though, you've gotta try finding a proper job. These are much more competitive and selective, and everyone wants them. Connections, like with any job, are your best bet.
That being said, I was a teacher back home (never going back, the kids are boned), but that experience means nothing. English teaching here is really a joke.

If it makes you feel any better, I failed the written portion of the driving exam in my home country twice (which the DMV lady was surprised because even retarded fuckers pass). The one in Japan took nine times because my home doesn't have a license transfer agreement, HOWEVER the test here is extremely biased and not a little racist. The one I passed had nothing to do with my driving and everything to do with me using all the right, polite mannerisms with the instructor.
As for motivating, while I did get some, at the end of the day, nothing fixes it. I was fortunate to develop somewhat healthy habits regarding study and exercise in high school, but my social life was and will forever be shot. The thing I always tell myself is: "The world isn't gonna wait for you to get better." It's an admittedly extremely toxic way of viewing things, and may lead to self-destructive habits, but that's my two cents as someone who was (and still in a lot of ways is) in the muck of it.
