I was going to ask wtf they were thinking, but the scene has enough notoriety that at least one person mentions it whenever AvP as a franchise is mentioned which sort of keeps the film remembered when it's an otherwise forgettable, bad-but-not-so-bad-its-interesting mid-2000s action/horror film; so in a way it's probably the most important scene in the movie
