Meursault's mother dies
He doesn't physically cry. He outwardly seems like nothing has changed
But he grieves in his own way
Meursault is a stoic man but is very driven regarding his desires(like sex and alcohol). However he will not divulge this info freely because there is no need to. (which is why Meursault was more than comfortable in the canto 5 club)
He had no desire to stand out, so he does as society tells him to do most of the time
A lot of his thoughts centres around his girlfriend's Marie's tits
He doesn't want to cause any strife with the connections he has, so he goes along with what his friend Raymond does
One thing leads to another etc, etc
Meursault is walking on the beach during an extremely hot day with a loaded gun
He comes face to face with an Arabian man whom he's been in fights with because of Raymond's shenanigans
The sun is too hot for him and starts to glare in his eyes
The arab takes out a knife
Meursault shoots him six times
He's jailed
People in court more or less don't care about his murder (because victim was arab)
He is still condemned to die regardless because he doesn't "act like a normal person"
There's a few characters and big story beats i'm skipping, but that is the summary more or less
