I have gooned to shantae for years. I even remember gooning to the pixel art in Risky's Revenge on my DSi while on vacation as a teen. I never got far in the game because I honestly didn't understand how metroidvanias worked. I just bought it because Shantae was hot. Then I recently played Blast Master Zero, realized I love metroidvanias, and beat both Half-Genie Hero and Seven Sirens this month.
