She is definitely intended to be a yandere trope character. It's just that as I said, she's a very, VERY light and family friendly version in order to make her seem more heroic.
Yeah, the story doesn't make her nearly as yan as most yanderes you know since she's supposed to be a good guy in the story, but the side dialogue really brings out the yan.
