Then, all at once, each of them began to shout. They shouted for Varnae to show himself. Their booming voices overpowered most as they swept across the battlefield. Soon after, everyone else on your side joined in. You didn’t know if it was due to mob mentality or sheer bloodthirst, but they picked up on what you were trying to do. And, soon enough, there was an entire army of monsters calling Varnae a coward for hiding behind his army.

What had once threatened to be a bloodbath, had quickly devolved into a shouting match. Only, the enemy’s morale was starting to flag, as each member of the Monster Council stepped forward to stand with you.

It was becoming apparent that “The Slayer” wasn’t the only one opposed to Varnae. After about five minutes of this, a large, shadowy figure swept down from the top of the castle, and crashed down before Varnae’s army. The enemy’s forces took a step back as a large bipedal bat-creature stood to its full height. He looked a lot like Carpathian, but with longer talons, and an even longer pair of drooping ears.

“You truly wish to see me in person so badly, Slayer?” he hissed, his wings unfurling to show a body being ravaged by a network of black veins. “Or do you simply wish to see your own handiwork? I am afraid that your curse has failed to kill me.”

His voice was low and tremulous. His every word reverberated through your bones. He must be using an enchantment of some kind to boost his volume.

He wore no armor–no clothing at all, really. You couldn’t see any visible weapons, either. Only a few enchanted rings adorning his long, bony fingers.

“I have outlived many before you. And I will outlive many more after your blood is spilled on these sands!” he roared.

>”The only reason you’ve lived this long is because you’ve spent your life running and hiding. You don’t scare me, Varnae.”
>”Then I sure hope you can back up all that talk. Otherwise, this is gonna be really embarrassing for you.”
>”I’ve outlived everything you’ve thrown at me so far. If anything, I’m surprised that you’ve still got supporters after every single one of your ‘carefully laid out plans’ has failed miserably.”
>”The only person we’re here for is you, Varnae. Everyone else will get a chance to surrender.”
