You found Ayane writing another letter for her family, adding some elegant pieces of origami to them. She'd been working on making those items of paper art ever since she finished decorating the graveyards and built the shrine.
Ayane then critically glanced at the most recent origami piece she'd made— a nine-tailed paper fox. She discarded it with a sigh, returning to writing her letters.
"A shame Eulia left so soon." You commented idly.
"Ah!" With a small sound your vixen looked up at you, startled. "My apologies, Master. With all the excitement that I've gone through, I cannot seem to get my mind on things."
"Yeah." You glanced at some of the origami pieces "I can see where Ryko and Shizuku learnt to make origami so well."
"Quite the opposite." She giggled. "They were the ones that inspired me to begin learning."
"Oh? You seem like a natural."
"Thank you, my love." She bowed her head. "I've had much time to learn."
"Right, you seem to be doing alright." You said. "Tell me if you need anything."
"Ah, Master, wait." Ayane said. "Would you mind telling me what your favorite color is... actually, nevermind. I have a much better idea."
"Oh?" You smiled. "Planning something for me?"
"Hmm." She gave you a playful smile. "I would tell, but that would ruin the surprise, Master~"
Some more warm conversations followed, making you recall the notes that were given to you by Eulia not too long ago. While it was mostly garbage— from advertisements to news from the Adventurer's Guild, even the owner of Cinnamon Inn, Ein Tiller, contacted you again. But hidden between some bureaucratic letters you'd found Todred's note...
To the honorable Savant, John Doe, and his wives,
Greetings. May health be upon your house...
Todred went on for a few pages about greetings and giving you some details on what was going on in the Academy. He described how Marigold, who was an important and influential member of the research department, was leading talks to better comprehend what was going on with that exploding wand, now given the name Duin Mor-01. And that led to the wand's research getting delayed for fear of a mole combined with attempts to replace all the wands in the Mage's Guild and the Academy. He expressed how, while inconvenient, the faculty had to confirm none of the students had any wands like the one you gave him as soon as possible.
I regret to write with hardly a word of good news, and yet I will once more assure that in the following days, which shall likely be over by the time you read this letter, I would have discerned the origins of it's placement. Once you return to Centria, I request that you visit me to discuss these matters, whose sensitive topics seem to have accumulated before my eyes.
With my best regards,
Todred Thaumat
While that was more than a bit annoying, you were more concerned over the fact that the mail harpy didn't have any letters from any non-bureaucratic elves.
