I want to expand on this because I realized that it is another significant flaw in everything that is Hajime. We never really find out why Hajime wants talent so badly that he is willing to undergo brain surgery. He didn't have a terrible childhood, nor do we know of any event that led him to want to join the HPA so persistently. Maybe he was bullied in middle school? It's possible, but like, a really shallow reason. Honestly, that makes him seem even more arrogant in my opinion. He just feels entitled to talent for the sake of having talent and would rather kill himself than being average.

It's really not the same at all. The Chiakis are literally two different existences inside the universe, while in Hajime's case it's a deeper explanation of how he ended up being Izuru.
