I'd say even then, progress is pretty important. Weights provide a VERY controlled and VERY quantifiable way to progress which is very good at keeping you motivated.
One more pushup than last time can only take you so far and changing to a different variation of the exercise isn't as satisfying for me. If you still feel like only doing calisthenics, at least read up on some programs and technique, I assume you're not very young so you have to be gentle with your connective tissues. Overcoming gravity is apparently a pretty good book, I think it even has program templates for all kinds of goals.
