You can tell Genshin actually is in a bad spot because outside the first 1 to 3 (exact time varies) days after a patch the general is close to being utterly devoid of actual discussion about the game itself. It's mainly inhabited by terminally online NEETs who usually dump their ritualposts in the first 50 replies to announce their presence before they begin posting their ritual bait until one of their fellow 18h/day thread-goers gets sufficiently angry to initiate a repeat of the same exchange they have in every thread every day until one of them gets even angrier and starts accusing everyone in the thread of being the same person
You'd think the solution would be to just create your own curated communities with trustworthy people of integrity, but even my in-game friends are starting to log in less as they've slowly begun moving on from the game.
About half a year or so ago a lot of the in-game events started having leaderboards where you could see how your friends were doing, but I've noticed a consistent trend of the final days/stages always having fewer people complete them because some players simply don't log in to catch up with every stage
This is how you know the game's in a dire state
