I genuinely can't comprehend why people care about Banjo to begin with. It's just so overwhelmingly "okay". I would sacrifice it on an Aztec altar to give even half the sequel attention it got to Jet Force Gemini instead.

I hold that Light is a colossal fucking weeaboo. He talks about growing up on mecha anime and that being the reason his robots' legs are so fucking fat. It's an in-universe Mazinger Z reference. The thing is, for him to have 'grown up on' mecha anime while also being old enough to be a tenured professor at MIT in time for 200X to happen, he had to be pirating Japanese broadcasts onto VHS or something in the 60s/70s and then learning Japanese to understand anything, because that shit didn't get subtitled until decades later.
