>'China is not US': Chinese FM calls on Europe to adopt pragmatic, rational view on China at China-EU strategic dialogue
>The 13th round of China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue was held on Wednesday local time in the EU headquarters in Brussels, during which Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi called on Europe to adopt a truly objective and rational understanding of China and follow a more positive and pragmatic policy. He noted that Europe today faces many challenges, but none of them come from China. There are no fundamental conflicts of interest between the two sides; instead, they share broad common interests, he said.
>The dialogue was co-chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
>Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic ties and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, which makes the upcoming China-EU leaders’ meeting all the more significant.
>He said the development of China-EU relations over the years has made it clear that the two sides are partners, not rivals. Cooperation has always been the main theme and the stabilizing anchor of their relationship, while differences should be managed through dialogue within this framework.
>“Given the growing uncertainty and instability in the international landscape, China and the EU – as two major forces and two major economies – should strengthen exchanges, deepen understanding, build greater mutual trust, and advance cooperation to jointly uphold the postwar international order and offer much-needed global certainty,” Wang stressed.
