...not because you ever thought that you even had a hair's worth of a chance to date your oshi, nor because she might be dating a person behind the scenes...
This woman isn't probably your oshi, or your person of interest to watch.
The feeling comes from the grand betrayal behind the concept of Vtubing, and Nimi's marriage announcement was the final layer of hope you had ever had about this little "interest" or maybe even "hobby" of yours.
You are but a stepping stone towards their growth as an online personality.
You are not one that is a part of their life, not emotionally, no no.
You are but the numbers in their bank account.
Their little pet.
Their little anonymous figure that cannot even be perceived for what they are, or even exactly named for what they are.
You are given "fan names", little pet names that disguise the true nature of what you are, all so disgustingly cutthroat so they can deface you and tell you how "interesting" or "funny" you are, "sapplings". Or is it "chat"?
Your entire existence feels betrayed because, you, as a person, enjoyed everything this little avatar of entertainment has given to you - tugging on your heart strings ever so slightly without you even suspecting it.
You gave your time to this avatar of fun because you genuinely felt entertained, and eventually happy with it.
It probably was even a part of your everyday cycle to tune in into their streams, or watch some of their clips with those silly little edits - all so conveniently handed to you as if you were expecting it.
You might have even given them some financial support - a superchat, maybe a membership. Merchandise purchases? Why would you do so? Was that the only way you could convey your feelings of gratitude for the times they made your frown turn upside down?
Your trust that these seemingly intimate moments would last forever was betrayed.
Your feeling of personal connection with your oshi was betrayed.
Your expectations that you could turn on your oshi's stream and the day would now be better were betrayed.
Why were you ever so betrayed?
Your oshi wasn't even "yours" to begin with.
And yet... them now "belonging" to someone really makes you feel... betrayed.
Find a significant other and make them yours.
Vtubing might offer you that feeling of belonging, but the reality is that even though you feel you are close to your oshi, the transparent glass wall between you and them is stronger than everything in this world.
People search for people. That also goes for online vtuber personalities that claim that they are "failures" and will be "forever alone".
Stop now while you are still sober from the news.
You belong, but not to Vtubing, unless you yourself are a Vtuber that prays on people's feelings to survive another day.
what a joke
