No I meant a neighbor had one of these to avoid messy cables for his multiple TVs and I could technically receive it myself lmao. The whole block could... But yes there are official methods especially these days with cable and streaming services which technically pay them something. Still far less than the loicense from what I am seeing. Beside that you can also use free satellite tv and in my opinion is worth it just because of all the weird ass international channels available. You get the same amount of adverts like when watching ota/terrestrial and the paid services. Speaking of that though I remember when the latter had no adverts at all. However they all got greedy

>Some sheepish looking lad turned up at my door and asked if we needed a licence and I said no we don’t watch tv and he looked embarrassed having to even ask.
I imagine he lurks threads like these from time to time. Back then when they showed up people were kind of aggressive to them (they were treated like scammers and door to door salesmen) so maybe that's another reason for his hesitation. I take it that most people don't really like being bothered by them in any case, especially when money is involved. Honestly though it is a better system than taxation simply because you can opt out. The only part I don't like is the home invasion aspect people here talk about
