The way Asuna and Alice's hair is a mile long, and the creators don't have to rationalize it or explain it away is a good example of what makes it good. They understand no one else does it, its striking, it makes an impact, its sexy, it works, so we just did it, and we ignored any autist who was all "Umm hair doesn't..." fuck off. It doesn't have to be realistic, it just needs to look good or be sexy.
