Really good story presentation in recent content with custom animations and in-engine action everywhere, almost zero black screen storytelling.
Pretty varied event activities with a sizeable amount of content in them.
Combat that is no better or worse but feels fresh with the mid animation switching like ZZZ that lets you do a lot of cool stuff.
Beautiful world that is a lot more boring explore, less attention is given to organic exploration, it's very formulaic with the sole aim being to let the player 100% it asap and they love it but I don't.
Artifacts drop from enemies in the overworld but can also be farmed in domains, I personally never had to use my energy for those, I farmed my entire character sets by killing enemies that specifically drop them in the world.
Some really good characters story quests that rival the best ones in Genshin.
Good english voice acting, mostly british and european but good regardless.
Terrible, absolutely awful, the worst opening for a game. 1.0 seriously gives an awful impression of the game, from voice acting to world design, to storytelling and pacing, everything in there is real trash because it suffered from extreme crunching, last minute changes and rewrites right before release. As soon as you reach 1.1 content which is basically the dragonspine of Wuwa, it gets so much better already and from there the quality keeps getting better and better.
If anything it's given me a new perspective on what's doable for a team working on such a game at such a pace and it makes genshin feel lazy in some regards, but I respect and play both religiously anyway. I think you'll like it as long as you keep in mind the warning I gave about 1.0 while keeping an open mind still because it's not all bad.
Also you can swap the MC so no regret about picking Aether.

Everything pretty much, I just went from 1.0 to 2.4 in the span of a month and it's night and day how much every aspect of the game has been improved.
Starting the game in china, with bad voice acting, awful story and pacing, an ugly map and with a man on the banner feels like they were trying to sabotage their own game.
The characters now are really well acted, their stories are great and the new maps are very very pretty.
I thought Genshin was pushing the boundaries of what's doable in such a short time frame and nothing could compare, well that game feels like it has 10 times the budget and effort put into it in its latest updates.
I like like Genshin a lot and I play it more than Wuwa, especially with the new mode which is exactly my type of challenge but now I play both and I'm having a blast. It's so easy for me to ignore the artificial tribalistic shitposting.
