Making friends here I've come to realize is a lot like making "friends" when you do content creation of any sort. People are there, they talk to you out of proximity and what you can do for them to benefit them or their perceived career. There is no "Let's talk about this just for fun", it's "Let's record us talking about this so I can upload the video and get more content, views, and exposure" and this especially happens when dealing with people that have zero idea how to build themselves up without relying parasitically almost on other people in their sphere. You are a tool to them at the end of the day.
The second you drop out of "the scene" and a month passes, not a single one of them reaches out or really gives a fuck about you and never really did. Internet people are just fake as fuck.
Sure, you can find the handful of diamonds in the rough, the ones who truly are your friend come hell or high water, they aren't nonexistent. Just 99% of the people you meet here are talking to you for either attention to fill a void, or because you can benefit them in some way/make them more popular/appear more likeable to other people because you're friends with them.
