Am I crazy or is the pacing in Stalker 2 kinda shit

I'm running around Zuton, chasing down Faust activating brain-roasting radars -- because? There's a boat with Sultan in it, a whole-ass settlement and it was never introduced?
Running back and forth for hours on end, converting water bottles into wasted time because I need to sleep, sell shit, repair my crap and then run back out into the boonies again because there's no fast travel outside of the guides

Does it get more focused, later on? Because right now, it just feels like fucking padding and I'm sick of this Goddamn swamp
