You pretty much have everyone fully evolved by 4th Stratum and entire movesets in the 5th with like half the game left. After a while, battles just become rote since there's no more sense of progression. You just form a core team of a support, some aggro bots and your favorite nukes. Maybe a pocket weather setter for a few fights.

Also, I have a feeling the other guy is shitting on level candies because of the "professional" nuzlocke community and stuff like radical red.
