The genre was already dead and buried by the time Madoka came out. And Nanoha had yuribaiting long before Madoka if you just want to complain about that. I'm sure there was more of that before Nanoha too. Madoka has other problems as a magical girl series than yuri. And Precure existing prohibits other people from making magical series not aimed at adults. Even though there's a middle ground between the target audiences of Precure and Madoka that has been ignored for a while.
