I am honestly feeling quite (selfishly) optimistic about Gen Alpha. From what it seems, the majority of them are absolutely fucked from an educational standpoint, which is a giant reversal of the trend of everyone going to the college and taking all the well paying jobs. In a dozen or two years, the job market for anything with a higher than high school education will probably be a lot more oriented towards potential employees due to the sheer lack of anyone normal. I've heard a pretty good analogy about russian 19th century alcoholism once - those people had such a colossal proportion of alcoholics back then that while the amount of educated people was very low and this wasn't very good for the country - if you were one of the normal (sober) 5% you could actually get a good job and get promoted quite easily, and would live quite a good life at the expense of others.
