Makrópnoos found the humans as a disgraced people abandoned by whatever creator made them...or perhaps they never had one to begin with. He found them lethargic and struggling with fear especially in this world populated by giant monsters and so gifted them with the Inner Fire, the capability to express the power of the gods and eventually perhaps match or surpass them. Through that seed of divine power, they grew ambitious, yet this power still needs to be nurtured carefully.
