Scribes pulled all nighters by candlelight until the printer was invented. They were given a few months to make a copy of the Bible and sometimes worked long hours to meet the deadline. Mistakes were made. Kings wasn't cannon until centuries later and there would have been only a few copes circulating around at first. Low enough for the mistakes to go unnoticed.
