I was thinking about this after watching some trailer and live comments started spamming DEI as soon as they saw a brown woman. I think the slight increase of anthro in games is in thanks to DEI and DEI related news. Why play the minefield of Guess the Color/Gender games when you can just pop a animal person(s) down into a game and call it day.
