>With the importance of defense and security emerging in the wake of the war in Ukraine and instability in the Middle East, the South Korean Navy has decided to secure a "drone aircraft carrier" using drones. The Navy's goal is to gain an upper hand in future marine warfare by combining manned/unmanned forces with light aircraft carriers.

>According to Yoo Yong-won, a member of the People's Power, received from the Navy on the 8th, the South Korean military is preparing to organize power organized into three command ships capable of carrying manned/unmanned aircraft, three mobile units under the mobile fleet, and other submarines.

>The command ship, which is the center of power, is one 'Multipurpose Manned and Unmanned Power (MuM-T Carrier)' and the Dokdo and Marado ships, which are large transport ships already operated by the South Korean military. The Navy is preparing to use these three ships as manned/unmanned marine combat groups or manned/unmanned amphibious landing groups according to their duties.

>Among the three command ships, the 'MuM-T Carrier' is a ship that is built by partially changing the existing light aircraft carrier construction project. The light-heavy tonnage (drainage when the ship floats in the water without loading cargo, fuel, and clean water) is expected to be about 30,000 tons, and the cost of building the ship is expected to be in the mid-to-late 2 trillion won.

>The Navy expects the ship to take about 11 years to design and build. The Navy's goal is to secure it by the late 2030s. The plan is to improve the performance of Dokdo and Marado ships, which have already been deployed in practice, so that they can take off and land UAVs.

They are currently developing EMALS as well based on maglev technology.
