I tried it last night. It's a dog to install if you're inexperienced with emulators. I went through hell trying to find a ROM that could be updated to 2.0 (obviously no one can spoonfeed you a ROM because of the legal grey area). Then I had issues with the emulator detecting my GC controller (via WII U adapter) despite having installed updated drivers. But eventually I got it to work. Though I still can't figure out the optimal button configuration for a GC controller. The analog just feels terrible regarding jump detection (I recall it being bad on the 64 though) and the c-stick doesn't do tilt attacks (just jumps). Can't do taunts with the directional pad either. Not sure if it has something to do with the emulator not detecting the controller.dll plugin or if I'm just doing something wrong with the controller configuration settings. Whatevs.
That aside, the mod is honestly really great. It's everything a kid from 1999/early 00's would've dreamed about for Smash. Seems like they prefer doing updates at a slow pace so that they can take their time with it to ensure excellent quality and also to avoid drawing in too much attention from Nintendo & Co. I hope they keep adding content in the future but I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to call it a day. The roster is pretty substantial at this point (though it could use additions like Ridley, Krool, Diddy, and Zard)
